LEGO Harry Potter 12 Grimmauld Place 76408 Building Toy Set for Kids, Girls, and Boys Ages 8+ (1,083 Pieces)
About this deal
The free LEGO Building Instructions app lets kids view, zoom and rotate the model as they build, providing an amazing sense of immersion and interaction during the construction process. While it's fantastic to get a Ministry of Magic and Deathly Hallows-based set, both thing for which fans have been clamoring for quite some time, 76408 12 Grimmauld Place is the better set of these two. Neither seems quite a match for her movie appearance, though the texture and color of these legs match her skirt fairly well. Maybe that’s not an emotion that Fred and George know of, because their alternative faces show them laughing – just as you’d expect it from the twins. But it does look cool and for me at least, it is tempting to get another one to supersize it – similar to what I did with the Beauxbatons’ Carriage.
Moving swiftly onto Bag 5 we create the first and second floor of Number 12, the exterior is nicely detailed and the interior has a rather grand piano on the first floor and a rather spooky second floor which has two heads on display! But they look fine overall – and while they are not as rare as they used to be, it is still nice getting new versions of Fred and George. It may be a while till I get to that, as I’m eager to start my review of the 2018 Hogwarts Castle – the only D2C (direct to consumers) set I haven’t reviewed yet.
The functionality of the set really places this set apart from anything else currently available to Harry Potter fans, so if there’s one set worth saving up that little bit extra for, it’s one like this that can give you that little bit extra back.Their modularity has the drawback of compromising the structural integrity of the model overall, so you have to be very careful when moving it. I will here add a photo of the beds – not because they look awesome, but to state that these must be some of the worst beds that LEGO has designed in recent years. This 3-level building is bursting with amazing adventures and spectacular scenes from the Harry Potter™ films. Grimmauld Place provides the more intriguing building experience and could also fit into displays outside of Harry Potter.
Fred and George maintain their unique sets of face prints from their previous appearances in Diagon Alley and the second HP CMF series, and I applaud the detail put into their and Ron's movie-accurate yet basic clothing, along with everyone else's.From minifigures to full-on castle sets, the LEGO Harry Potter collection has something for every fan, young or old. Kreacher has a moulded head, so no ability to have an alternative face print on that, but we get that for both Sirius and Molly. They include a troll-leg umbrella stand, which is assembled using a lavender barrel with tan 1x1 bows, while the stickered curtain covers Walburga Black's shrieking portrait. The Lego set doesn't increase at the same rate as the actual thing it's representing so the set is a bit underwhelming.
