About this deal

Giles lives with his wife, Victoria, a children's clothes designer, and their four young children by the river in Oxfordshire. In potentially threatening situations, such as the forest or water, the animals emerge from a darker left into a bright, safe right-hand spread, dominated by the mother.

Other things I wasn't thrilled about was that the kid was drinking a milk shake and just didn't seem disciplined that much. These two ranges of greetings cards, books and merchandise have made Giles the country's top-selling living poet. The illustrations are soft and warm, with each page depicting an animal mummy and child interacting together. It was quite a cute book but it’s hard to review it when you’re not a small child and don’t have much dealings with them. However I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that it doesn't ever mention any dad figure and the baby is sleeping in the mother's bed. not saying that is a bad thing, just not relevent and a little weird a toddler is trying to get me to love his mom) Maybe I'm just reading into this WAY to much. whereas here, mum is functional carrying out mundane, typical "gender role" jobs and that's why we should love her. Bold, simple, large format illustrations add an extra dimension and are sure to appeal to the under fives. Overally though, it's a lovely book, baby is keen on it (we have the board version to stop it being destroyed) and I love love love the pictures.

Images of the mother watching over her baby reinforce the message that mum is there to make sure baby is safe, and that she nurtures her young one. I love my mummy very much, She's great to cuddle, soft to touch' A wonderfully simple and life-affirming text from the brilliant and award-winning Giles Andreae.

Emma lives in Surrey with her husband and two children and their terrier cross, Buzz, who keeps her fit and provides inspiration. The books are wonderful, interactive in a variety of ways, are inclusive/diverse with a variety of subjects.

Giles Andreae is the author of several children's books, including the best-selling Giraffes Can't Dance, illustrated by Guy Parker-Rees.Parent: a really cute concept for all the previous time a kid spends with their mum, but I did have some issues with the book. Emma lives in Surrey with her husband and two children and their Jack Russel Terrier, Bart, who keeps her fit and provides inspiration. There is a consistent rhyme throughout on each page which increases the potential fluency of the reader. Although this books seems a little babyish for my girls now, we did laugh at the idea of dancing in our underwear and enjoyed the questions at the back of the book.
