The qualification is designed to make up the component parts of the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship for the Children and Young People’s Workforce in Wales. The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. You will look at what action to take when children or young people are injured or ill and when complete, you will be able to recognise emergency procedures as well as how to respond to suspicions that a child or young people has been abused, harmed or bullied. This qualification meets the Department for Education (DfE) Level 2 criteria that set out the knowledge, understanding and skills that a practitioner must demonstrate to achieve an Early Years Practitioner status and be counted in the ratios.

Unit 3 graded A*-D, assessed by an externally set and externally marked synoptic scenario based short answer examination (component TACDC). Revised in accordance with the EYFS 2012 requirements, this title explains, in plain English, how to plan, observe and assess children aged Birth to Five. Learners may wish to study the Level 2 Technical Award in Health and Social Care alongside this qualification as it serves as an introduction to the health and social care sector. Functional skills are available from Entry 1 through to Level 2, our Functional Skills qualifications offer full curriculum coverage across all five levels. Learners do not need to have previous experience or qualifications in working with children to undertake this qualification.
