Instead, this is the original highlight versions of the three movies scores that were originally released as single CDs during the original theatrical releases of the three films.

Breathtaking and majestic, the 2001 Oscar and Grammy-winning score composed by Howard Shore also includes Enya's Oscar-nominated 'May It Be'. The plethora of unreleased material on this beautifully packaged edition is mouth-watering at the least, and the sonic dynamic achieved on the surround sound DVD of the entire 180-minute score is simply astonishing. This deserves to be on a bookshelf or on a display table in the middle of the living room for everyone to look at.I was fortunate enough to acquire the original Fellowship of the Rings – Complete Recordings when it was first issued and I wondered if it was worth the additional outlay second time round (my original box is getting a bit battered through over-use). THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE MOTION PICTURE TRILOGY SOUNDTRACK will be released on November 30 as a six-LP boxed set. R.
